Im sitting here downloading video podcasts on itunes

taken some fucking time for the future to get here
and this is the beginning

I love TV
I love it

the tv of my teenage years was my life
good British tv
I had nothing else to do all day
agoraphobia kept me from school and madness rang in my mind when the TV was off

from waking to sleep I watched it
the news
daytime tv driving piles into my skull in the afternoons
then later and documentaries that would leave me with fruit in my mind
and later still, talk shows past the watershed, naked women on occasion for desperate eyes

I even got hooked on 6 soap operas which ate a lot of time

there was even one tv season where there was something good on all day long

tv changed me
as a child I laughed at racist jokes and did not understand the world
but from the tv I learned
I became non racist, non homophobic, and informed, and I learnt better english too

and in the burgeoning immense lust of puberty I masturbated
any time of day
any sick thought
there isnt a woman on tv at any time that isnt being defiled in several different ways by some teenage boy
there certainly isnt when theres only 4 channels

I still have 4 channels now
theres a fifth
but it needs a signal booster

my four channels of condensed money and talent are no longer alas
they suck
badly
now there is digital tv via aerial (which I cannot recieve here either)

and the 4 channels have spread their branches and now publish several channels each
but its with the same amount of money
so the only thing on tv today, was watching the bowles (a game normally played by old people on flat pitches)
I didnt even bother looking in the TV guide
there was no point
its all shit

there would have been some cheap program on if I had all 30 digital freeview channels
but sometimes all thats on is bid up tv, a shopping channel

the bad television drove me to the internet years ago, as it has for many poeple, on the internet you can choose what you want

and what I want now is entertainers

so Im discovering iTunes
listening to the radio
and tonight downloading video
I have to pay by law over £10 a month for my 4 tv channels
and I dont watch them
but if I could pay a flat rate and watch what I wanted via my computer
if all the programs of all of time were on itunes
then I would pay, I dont even need to do a shady deal with satelite tv, and end up paying for many shows I dont like
you just need broadband and to download all your favourite shows when youre sleeping and youll be in heaven
the quality of the videocasts on itunes is decent enough, I dont give a damn about perfect picture

but the tv companies dont want to put their stuff online
theyre worried itll all end up on kazaa and they wont get rich off it
but they havent taken into account that me, sitting here
does not get a chance to watch COPS

neither do all the other hundreds of millions of poeple around the world with broadband
and if we all payed a flat rate for all we can eat
then we would all pay for COPS and enjoy it very much indeed
thats a lot of money

WORLDWIDE crazes for new TV shows as everyone watches new episodes at the same time and chats about it globally

and if they did free shows with adverts
worldwide brand recognition and word of mouth.

they worry people will edit the adverts out
and they probably will, even if you make it incredibly hard for them with some good code
but if you have the option of downloading easily, legally, for free from a swarm of users or even a really good bank of servers
then poeple will choose that and the adds within it,

the world is getting wired and the amount of eyes and ears will only grow
and so will the money

 

as it is now, home users are beginning to make the audio visuals
for free
and even though its jsut the small start
the shows Im downloading now are better than the tv
when this grows enough I will stop my tv license, and stop watching the cheap crap they throw in my face

its jsut a matter of time before they put all tv shows online
there is no stopping it
